The house we began in January is completed and the dedication was held last Saturday. Pastor Damon from our host, First Baptist Church, made opening comments and prayer.  Art Catlin, Project Director, presented a "Litany of Blessing" and Office Manager Judy Catlin shared a "Housewarming Blessing in a Basket:

 

A beautiful wall-hanging was presented to the homeowner by Verna.The MDS book, The Hammer Rings Hope, was given by Don and Diane and they also presented a collage of pictures of various stage of the house as it was built. This large framed collage will hang over and cover the electrical service box.

 

Next, the job card was signed off and the keys to the house presented to Miss JoAnn. The group sang “Bless This House” and open floor comments were made. It was a very beautiful and meaningful home dedication service. The ladies of the RV Team served refreshments after the program. In the next three days the team with finish a few small items that still need to be completed.

 

Many of the RV crew will now go home. Three couples will go on to the New Iberia project to finish two houses.

 

The March team included Art and Judy Catlin, Vern and Diane Willems, Jake and Verna Martens, Howard and Barb Quast, Dick and Kathy Neudorf, Paul and Mary Stoltfus, Walt and Pat Willems, and Don and Marilyn Buller.

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.
