My how the weeks fly by when you are constantly in a situation of finding work to do and in keeping the volunteers busy. We have completed the J house and had a house dedication service for them on the Friday. The J’s were presented with a wall hanging and a Bible for their new home. We also passed on two small blankets made by 3 to 5 year olds which will keep them warmer in their home. The J’s have many medical needs and keeping warm is one relief they treasure.
We also put a new metal roof and painted the interior ceilings on Jack’s house which was completed in a day. This now means that Jack will no longer see marks appearing on his ceiling from water coming in a leaky roof.
Lillie was not able to negotiate her steps at her trailer any longer, so a group of our guys stopped at her house for a few hours and replaced the steps with a new set which only require small steps up in order to make her way into the trailer. She is much happier and very grateful for the work these guys did.
Missouri’s house has been raised, a new screened in porch added and a new bathroom with a shower stall has been installed. A few more days and the painting will be completed and she can move back into familiar digs.
The F house is nearing completion with the trim work starting, painting being completed, and the underside being covered in order to keep the heat in, the cold out and vice versa for the summer months. It will only take a few days next week to complete the house and have a dedication ceremony which has been planned for the following Thursday morning. God has been good giving us great weather and many willing hands to carry out his work this past week.

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.
Your contribution will help to connect volunteers with disaster survivors who need assistance on their path to recovery. MDS depends on the support of people who believe that disaster response is an important part of helping those who are in need.
