Attendants of the Mennonite Church USA Convention from July 2-7, 2007 in San Jose, California participated in assemblying an MDS panel house. The hurricane-resistant panel house is being built for the Lodrigues, a Louisiana family who lost their home to Hurricane Rita in September, 2005.Over 200 youth and adults at the convention participated in the house build. Construction is taking place on a parking lot at the San Jose Convention Center.
Since the convention, the house was packed up and shipped to Dulac, Louisiana where MDS volunteers have been assemblying the house.
