
Disaster Description
Marble Falls, Texas was founded in 1887. Falls of Limestone which was mistaken as marble let to the naming of the city. A dam has since been build to form Lake Marble Falls on the Colorado River. The falls are now under water and only visible on those rare occasions when the lake is lowered for repairs.
On Tuesday, June 26, 2007, over 18 inches of rain fell in a few hours in the Marble Falls area. Authorities estimate that approximately 150 businesses and homes were damaged by flood waters.
MDS Response
The MDS RV project will be set up at the Camp of the Hills, a Christian camp that provides summer outdoor camping experiences to inner city kids.
