Responding Rebuilding Restoring

Princeville, NC

Disaster Description
In the fall of 1999 Hurricane Dennis came through North Carolina bringing lots of rain to the eastern side of the state.  Hurricane Floyd followed, dumping more rain on the already saturated ground. The first African American town in NC of Princeville was soon flooded and under water. MDS went into Princeville following the flood and build many homes and did some repairs. In 2005, we were invited back to this community to help build some low income housing with some grant money that had been given to the community.
