Century, FL: Hurricane Ivan

Disaster Description

Hurricane Ivan struck Florida September 16, 2004 with great force. A catagory 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, Ivan had sustained winds of 125 mpg. The town of Century, Fla., located in a heavily forested area near the Alabama border, sustained very heavy tree damage with the majority of the  homes in the community receiving damage.
