Seven volunteers from MB and two from CA made up our short-term crew of volunteers. Together with their crew leaders they accomplished a great deal.
At Ms. Jean’s house, baseboard, casing and some doors were painted and installed. Lights, outlets and switches were installed with a lot of trouble-shooting and running up and down stairs countless times. The kitchen cabinets, countertops and the sink were installed. Ms. Jean enjoys bringing fresh muffins around 10:00am and the crews enjoys eating them.
At Mr. Don’s house window build ups were finished, doors hung, and a lot of trim was put on. Nail holes were puttied and painted. The subflooring was installed in the kitchen and bathroom.
At Ms. Joyce and Ms. Vivian’s house the crew installed cabinets, countertops, sink, and the bathroom vanity.
A service panel was installed at Mr. Pat’s house and a long garbage run was made.
At Ms. Anna and Mr. Gary’s house the old windows were replaced with new ones and the house got a good cleaning.
At the Bible Fellowship Church parsonage the bathtub in the basement bathroom needed some framing before the drywall was put on. Then came the tape and mud and some sanding was done too. The long-term volunteers will move into the parsonage on Friday.
Pastor Duane and his wife Linda spoke to us on Thursday about their personal flood experience. Pastor Duane admitted he had been in denial until the flood waters came. They had helped evacuate their house and church but not until the flood was imminent did he believe it could happen. The change of routine from before the flood and after has become a series of messages for the congregation.

MDS volunteers are known for repairing and rebuilding homes damaged by disasters. But it takes more than construction skills to serve with MDS. During the time that you serve as a volunteer, you will learn that MDS also restores lives.
Your contribution will help to connect volunteers with disaster survivors who need assistance on their path to recovery. MDS depends on the support of people who believe that disaster response is an important part of helping those who are in need.
